The Dhaka Metro Rail, also known as the Dhaka Metro, is a mass rapid transit system that serves Dhaka, the capital and largest city of Bangladesh. It is owned and managed by the Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL). Alongside the Dhaka BRT currently under construction, proposed Dhaka Subway, and Dhaka suburban circular rail, the metro system is anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion within the city. The metro network comprises five planned lines: MRT Line 6, the sole operational line, MRT Line 1, MRT Line 5 under construction, and MRT Line 2 and MRT Line 4 in the planning phase. This initiative is part of the Strategic Transport Plan devised by the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA).

The first segment of MRT Line 6 began commercial operations on December 29, 2022, with the second segment following on November 5, 2023. The remaining lines are either in the planning stages or currently under construction. The third phase, which will feature interchanges with Line 1, Line 2, and Line 4, is scheduled for completion by 2026. Expansion of MRT Line 6 towards Savar Upazila and Tongi is also in the pipeline. Passengers can avail a 10% discount on fares by using the MRT Pass or Rapid Pass. MRT Line 6 operates daily except on Fridays, from 7:30 am to 9:00 pm (7:10 am to 9:40 pm for MRT Pass/Rapid Pass holders). Each metro train includes a dedicated coach for women in addition to common coaches.
